Chapel Hill, N.C.Cortney Storey scored a team high 20 points to go along with six assists but the Presbyterian College women’s basketball team ultimately fell to the Tar Heels 91-56 on Tuesday night at Carmichael Arena.

Storey finished with a team high 20 points and six assists, this was her third 20-point game of the season and ninth of her career. She is now just three points shy of 1,000, as she has 997 points. she is 12 assists shy of 400 and with one steal tonight now 30 shy of 200. Janie Miles chipped in 14 points on four made three-pointers, this was her third game of the season with four or more threes made. Tonight was game 46 of scoring in double figures for both Miles and Storey during their careers. Ericka Blackwell-Boyden would tally three steals, a career high.

How it Happened

The Blue Hose forced a quick turnover on the opening series and Kacie Hall sank a three giving PC the 3-0 lead early. PC hit four threes in the opening quarter to keep the Blue Hose in it at 21-15 after one period.

Storey made a pair of free throws at the 6:22 mark to cut the score to 23-17 from there North Carolina would go on a 19-4 run to pull away from the Blue Hose at 42-21, Riley Hemm made a jumper to snap a four-plus minute scoreless streak for PC. Storey knocked down a three with 23 seconds to play in the half and UNC took a 47-26 lead into the intermission. North Carolina scored 26 of their 47 first half points in the paint.

The Blue Hose came out in the third quarter playing aggressive as they outscored the Tar Heels 7-3 in third quarter points up to the media timeout. PC forced seven turnovers in the first five minutes of the period, but North Carolina would gather themselves and end up winning the period by a 20-15 margin.

PC continued to fight as they forced North Carolina into 23 turnovers and scored 17 points off of them.

For the Record

The Blue Hose wrapped up the road portion of their non-conference schedule that saw them play three power-five schools and two nationally top 20 ranked teams, they moved to 1-7 following the loss while North Carolina moved to 7-2 on the season.
