A 26-2 run over the final eight minutes of the first half helped propel the Presbyterian College men’s basketball team to the eventual 90-48 win over Coastal Georgia in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Templeton Center in Clinton, S.C. Will Adams posted a career-high 24 points.

Player of the Game
Will Adams, with his three three pointers in first half, helped turn a close game into a blowout for the Blue Hose. He finished with a career-high 24 points, his four total three-pointers one shy of his career mark. Adams was 10-of-12 from the field for an 83.3%, which is tied for seventh in PC’s Division I record book.

Jo'Vontae Millner paced the team in rebounds with a career-high 12 rebounds. With his 10 points he recorded his first career double-double and PC’s first this season. JC Younger had a career afternoon as well with his 18 points.

Stat of the Game
PC forced 21Coastal Georgia turnovers, accounting for 23 points for the Blue Hose. PC controlled the paint as well, 44-22.

The Blue Hose finished with 53.0% from the field and connected on a season-high eight three-pointers. Coastal Georgia held the rebounding advantage, 46-40, and had 11 more turnovers, 21-10.

How It Happened
Trailing 4-6 early in the first half, the PC offense began to click with a 25-3 run over a 10 minute span to storm ahead, 29-9, 4:47 to go. Jo’Vontae Millner and Will Adams accounted for eight points each in the run. Coastal Georgia posted just one basket and three free throws the final eight and a half minutes of the half as PC went into the locker room leading 41-11. The second half was much of the same, with the Mariners stringing together 37 points to PC’s 49 as the Blue Hose came away with the final 90-48 score.

The 42-point margin of victory is PC’s highest since the Blue Hose beat Johnson & Wales by 44 points (107-63) earlier this season. That was the highest since 2014 when the Blue Hose defeated Bob Jones, 88-39, a 49-point margin of victory.

The Blue Hose racked up 60 bench points in Saturday’s win, just three shy of the Division I era school record 63 set against Johnson & Wales.

The 24 assists ranks third in PC’s Division I record book and is a season high. The 35 field goals made is a season high and is eighth in the record book.

PC held Coastal Georgia to 25.0% shooting from the field, the second lowest percentage in PC’s DI history. The Blue Hose held Toccoa Falls to 22.6% back in the 2012 season in a 97-38 win.
