GREENVILLE, S.C.Cam McRae (Darlington, S.C.) hit a three-run home run and Bud Jeter (Columbia, S.C.) pitched his fourth complete game of the season as the Presbyterian College baseball team knocked off Furman on Saturday, 6-2.

PC (18-11) picked up its sixth straight weekend series win with the result over Furman (16-11). The Blue Hose next host USC Upstate on Tuesday at 3 p.m.

Jeter went the distance for the second straight start, scattering eight hits and two runs—one earned—over nine innings. The junior struck out five Paladins and walked two to move to 4-1 on the season.

Brandon Paul (Augusta, Ga.) and Jay Lizanich (Greer, S.C.) went two-for-four while four other Blue Hose picked up one hit each.

PC scored all the runs it would need in the first inning with one swing of the bat. Aaron Preston (Goose Creek, S.C.) and Brad Zebedis (Rock Hill, S.C.) each singled to bring up McRae and the sophomore slugger drove an 0-1 pitch over the left field wall to put PC ahead, 3-0.

Jeter retired the side in order in the second and third to give PC the chance to further its lead in the fourth. A Paul single followed by a Robby Swab (Kernersville, N.C.) walk put two aboard and set the table for RBIs from Lizanich and Billy Motroni (Goose Creek, S.C.). The sophomore infielders extended PC’s lead to 5-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth.

The Paladins continued to struggle against Jeter, grounding into a double play in the fourth before going hitless in the fifth and sixth. A 6-4-3 double play in the seventh halted Furman’s momentum and allowed PC to score one more run in the eighth. McRae walked on four straight balls and Paul smacked a double down the right field line that sent McRae to third. Swab converted by singling to score McRae and make the score 6-0 in favor of the visitors.

Furman finally broke through in the ninth. An error allowed one runner to reach and set up RBI plays from Heath Burton and Jarrod Rickman. Jeter slammed the door on the final batter, however, striking out Jordan Simpson swinging to seal the victory, 6-2.
