CLINTON, S.C. – Bud Jeter (Columbia, S.C.) pitched his second straight complete game on Sunday to clinch a series sweep of High Point, lifting PC to a 4-1 Big South Conference win at the PC Baseball Complex.

PC picks up its seventh straight win, moving to 8-4 on the season and a program-record 3-0 in the Big South. The Blue Hose will next head to Florida State for a pair of games on Tuesday and Wednesday at 4 p.m. High Point falls to 5-6, 0-3 in league play and will host Ohio for two games on Tuesday and Wednesday at 4.

Jeter struck a career-high 13 in the win while walking one. The junior scattered six hits over his nine innings of work and allowed only one run to move to 2-0 on the season.

Aaron Preston (Goose Creek, S.C.) and Nate Chong (Duluth, Ga.) each went 2-for-3 on the day. Preston drove in two RBI while Brandon Paul (Augusta, Ga.) ran his hitting streak to 12 games.

Despite a solid effort, Jared Avidon took the loss to move to 2-1. Six different Panthers each hit safely once in the game.

Jeter retired the side in order through the first three innings before High Point struck for its only run in the fourth. Willie Medina poked a leadoff single and eventually came home on a Brett Gemmell single to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.

PC put a runner 90 feet away from the plate in the fourth but converted in the sixth. Preston doubled to bring in Paul, who reached on a walk. Preston took third on an error and came home on a Chong sacrifice bunt. The play gave the Blue Hose a 2-1 lead heading into the seventh.

High Point put two on in the sixth before Jeter forced a popout and struck out Cody Manzella to get out of the inning unscathed. Jeter also struck out two Panthers in the eighth to keep PC ahead.

The Blue Hose added two more runs in the eighth. Billy Motroni (Goose Creek, S.C.) led off with a single before a fielder’s choice swapped Zebedis for Motroni on the basepaths.  Paul plated Zebedis with a double to left field and Preston tagged new pitcher Joe Goodman for a single to bring in Paul.

The Panthers threatened in the ninth to no avail. High Point put one on via error before Jeter struck out Sean Wilson for the first out of the inning. A hit-by-pitch allowed Adam Berry to take first and a passed ball moved the runners to third and second base. With the tying run at the plate, Jeter struck out Spencer Angelis looking and Willie Medina swinging to seal the win and complete the sweep.
