Baseball Wraps up Season at Campbell

CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College baseball team (23-29, 9-12 Big South) wraps up the season with a three game series at Campbell (38-15, 13-8) that begins on Thursday at 6 p.m. The Blue Hose will look to build off of winning three of their last four games, including a home series win against Gardner-Webb and a 3-2 road win over Duke on Tuesday afternoon. Campbell and PC meet for the first time in series history this weekend.

Campbell enters Thursday's first game with a 38-15 overall record and a 13-8 Big South marker, slotting them in second place in the league. The Camels have won five of their last six after sweeping Radford while Michael Felton paces the squad (and the Big South) with a .434 batting average. The squad also boasts three players with over 40 RBI in Jake Kirkland (53), David Olson (42) and Felton (41).
PC will likely start Chad Sanders and Chandler Knox in the first two games opposite Campbell's Matt Sergey, Frank Zier and Hector Cedano. Knox picked up his team-leading fifth win on Saturday while Sanders tossed seven innings of two-hit ball en route to a no decision and eventual PC win on Friday against Gardner-Webb. Knox ranks sixth in innings pitched (82.1) and has held opponents to a .277 batting average.
The Blue Hose took the opening two games of its weekend series against Gardner-Webb, 4-3 and 9-5, before falling to the Runnin' Bulldogs in the series finale, 12-3. PC rebounded with a 3-2 victory over Duke where Jay Lizanich and Gabe Grammer combined for three sacrifice RBI and Buck Mosteller earned the win with six and one-third innings of two-run, six-hit ball. Saturday's win over Gardner-Webb gave PC nine Big South wins, tying last season's total as the most in a single season since joining the league.
The team honored 13 players who will leave the program after this season in Tony Micklon, Gabe Grammer, Kenny Bryant, Andrew Williams, Stewart Curry, John Wagner, Tyler Hill, Matt Nodelman, Buck Mosteller, Steven Richardson, Nick Ferguson, Jordan Pace and Ryan Burt prior to Saturday's win over Gardner-Webb. The group has played in over 1,140 games for the Blue Hose and set numerous Division I records for the program.
Over the last five games, Gabe Grammer leads the team with a .400 average (8-for-20) while Nate Chong paces the team in RBI, with four, and boasts a .500 on-base percentage over the last five contests.
Nate Chong, Gabe Grammer and Brad Zebedis each hit solo home runs in Saturday's win over Gardner-Webb. The Blue Hose come into the weekend with 33 on the year, second-most in the Big South. Kenny Bryant ranks second among all active players with 24 career home runs (thanks to a team-leading eight homers this season), while Tony Micklon leads with 27. Brad Zebedis ranks third, with 19. Nine different players have gone yard this season for the Blue Hose.
Andrew Williams' 16-game on-base streak ended on Sunday, giving the redshirt junior the team's longest on-base streak of the season. Gabe Grammer enters Thursday's game on a season-long 10-game hitting streak, guaranteeing him as the holder of PC's longest hitting streak this season.
