ORLANDO, Fla. - The Presbyterian College baseball team dropped the first game of its series against No. 13 Central Florida on Saturday evening, 8-1.

PC moves to 19-26 on the year. UCF improves to 37-10.

Five different Blue Hose picked up a hit on the night and Billy Motroni (Goose Creek, S.C.) drove in a run in the effort.

UCF's D.J. Hicks went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Ben Lively picked up the win with seven innings of work.

Chad Sanders (St. Simons Island, Ga.) went a career-long seven innings for PC in relief, allowing three runs and six hits while striking out five, another career-best.

UCF struck for three runs in the first inning on four hits and an error before adding a pair of runs in the second.

The Blue Hose put a pair of runners aboard in the fifth, with Robby Swab (Kernersville, N.C.) reaching third on a Gabe Grammer (Irmo, S.C.) double. Two outs ended the scoring chance, however.

PC crossed the plate for a run in the sixth, thanks to an Andrew Williams (Augusta, Ga.) leadoff triple. A Motroni groundout brought Williams home and PC trailed by four, 5-1.

The Knights answered with a run of its own in the bottom of the frame, scoring during a 4-6-3 Blue Hose double play.

Two more UCF runs in the seventh brought the score to its final tally, 8-1. Hicks and Alex Friedrich each hit an RBI double to extend the Knights' lead.

Sanders limited the home side to one hit in the final two innings but UCF held on for the win.

The two sides meet for the second game of the series on Sunday at 4 p.m.
