CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team posted a season-high 13 runs—four on a grand slam from Kenny Bryant (Goose Creek, S.C.)—and the Blue Hose knocked off visiting Davidson in a rout on Wednesday afternoon, 13-5.

PC improves to 14-20 on the year while Davidson falls to 11-19.

Jay Lizanich (Greer, S.C.), Brandon Paul (Augusta, Ga.) and Nate Chong (Duluth, Ga.) each picked up three hits on the day en route to a season-best 18 hits for the Blue Hose.

Bryant hit a grand slam in the sixth inning for his team-leading fifth home run. Brad Zebedis (Rock Hill, S.C.) and Chong also went yard in the effort.

Senior Matt Nodelman (Columbia, S.C.) earned his first career win with four solid innings of early relief, allowing only one unearned run and one hit.

Davidson struck first, manufacturing two runs on one hit off of Kelly Wright (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) in the first inning. Wright’s start marked the first of his career.

The Blue Hose grabbed a lead in the bottom of the frame and never looked back. A pair of singles from Billy Motroni (Goose Creek, S.C.) and Lizanich put two aboard for Brad Zebedis, who smacked the first pitch he saw over the left field fence for a three-run home run.

PC added two in the second to extend its lead to 5-2. Chong led off the frame by hitting his fourth home run of the season, followed by a John Wagner (Olney, Md.) single. Wagner stole second and Lizanich brought him home on a single through the left side for an RBI base hit.

Davidson scored two runs in the top of the third on RBIs from Michael Zeblo and David Daniels, but PC took one back in the bottom of the inning. Paul knocked a one-out double down the left field line and Robby Swab (Kernsersville, N.C.) cashed in, lifting a double to right field and giving PC a 6-4 advantage.

After Davidson scored one run on no hits and an error in the sixth, the PC offense exploded. The Blue Hose went off for seven hits and six runs, beginning on an Aaron Preston (Goose Creek, S.C.) RBI double to score Chong. Motroni followed by singling home Preston.

With two aboard, Lizanich beat out an infield hit to load the bases for Bryant. The senior did not disappoint the PC crowd, pulling a 2-2 pitch over the right field fence for a grand slam. The home run marked the 21st of Bryant’s career.

PC tacked on a run in the eighth, using a walk and a single to set up a Chong RBI base hit. The Blue Hose closed down Davidson in the ninth to take the win, 13-5.

PC returns to Big South Conference action this weekend with a three-game series at High Point. The first game is slated for Friday at 6 p.m.
