CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College baseball team dropped the final game of its opening Big South Conference series on Sunday, falling to Liberty, 13-3.

PC moves 9-13 on the year and 0-3 in conference play. Liberty improves to 20-3 and 3-0 in league action.

Liberty took a 3-0 lead in the first inning before tallying 10 runs in the final four frames.

Jay Lizanich (Greer, S.C.) led PC at the plate, going 3-for-3. Andrew Williams (Augusta, Ga.) drove in two runs while Matt Peden (Fountain Inn, S.C.) picked up an RBI in a pinch-hit appearance.

The Blue Hose posted 11 hits in the contest and scored three runs in the eighth.

Freshman Beau Dees (Blenheim, S.C.) pitched effectively in the loss, allowing four runs in five and two-thirds innings.

Three of Liberty's runs off of Dees came from one swing the first inning, as Justin Sizemore hit a three-run to left field to put the Flames ahead early.

Neither side scored until the sixth inning but PC came close, ending each of the first four innings with two men left on base.

Liberty's Tyler Wimmer led off the sixth with a double to right center before scoring from third on a wild pitch to extend Liberty's lead, 4-0.

The Flames enjoyed their most successful inning in the seventh, scoring five runs on three hits. Five different Flames drove in a run, including Wimmer drawing a bases-loaded walk. Liberty led 9-0 after the frame.

Liberty added another run in the eighth before PC found the scoreboard in the bottom of the frame.

Brandon Paul (Augusta, Ga.) entered the game as a pinch hitter and came through, smacking a double to left field before taking third on an error that allowed Tyler Hill (Goose Creek, S.C.) to reach first base. Peden then came through with an RBI single, the second run driven in of the freshman's young career.

Staring at two outs, Williams laced a single to right field to bring around Peden and Hill.

Liberty capped the game by scoring three runs in the ninth on a trio of hits.

PC hosts Kennesaw State on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
