Bryan Aanderud went 4-for-5 for Liberty and posted four RBI.

PC tallied 11 hits on the day but left 13 on base.

Bud Jeter (Columbia, S.C.) went seven and one-third innings and scattered seven runs on 10 hits to take the loss.

Neither side found the scoreboard through the first two innings. Gabe Grammer (Irmo, S.C.) kept Liberty scoreless in the second, robbing Trey Wimmer with a diving catch in centerfield.

Liberty took advantage of a three hits and an error in the third to put two runs on the board. Dalton Sype led off with a single and eventually came home on an Andy Smith single. Smith took third on an error and crossed home plate after an Aanderud base hit.

PC took one run back as Andrew Williams (Augusta, Ga.) drove in Nate Chong (Duluth, Ga.) on a single to left center. The Blue Hose loaded the bases with two outs after the Flames intentionally walked Brad Zebedis (Rock Hill, S.C.), but the home side could not capitalize and trailed after three, 2-1.

The Flames added three more in the top of the fifth to extend their lead to 5-1.Another Dalton Sype  leadoff single turned into a run via an Ian Parmley base hit. Andy Smith brought home Zack Haley on a sacrifice fly that moved Parmley to third. An Aanderud single drove in Parmley and Liberty led by four, 5-1.

Liberty scored eight runs in the eighth thanks in part to two Tyler Cox home runs and led 13-1 heading into the bottom of the frame.

The Blue Hose loaded the bases with two outs in the eighth on a Cam McRae (Darlington, S.C.) and two straight walks. Wagner cashed in with a base hit through the left side to plate Brandon Martin (Gray Court, S.C.) and McRae and moved the score to 13-3.

PC scored again in the ninth on a one-out Brandon Paul (Augusta, Ga.) single for the squad's fourth run of the day. The Blue Hose filled the bags on a Martin walk but a strikeout ended the game.

The two teams battle in the second game of the series Saturday at 2 p.m.
