DURHAM, N.C. - The Presbyterian College baseball team earned its third straight win on Wednesday night, battling to an 8-6 victory over North Carolina Central at Durham Athletic Park.

PC moves to 4-9 on the year and will return to Durham on Wednesday night to play the Eagles at 6 p.m.

Kenny Bryant (Goose Creek, S.C.) went 3-for-5 on the day and hit a solo home run in the ninth inning.

Starting pitcher Chad White (Suwanee, Ga.) earned his second win of the season. The sophomore went six innings and struck out four, allowing four runs on seven hits. Gabe Grammer (Irmo, S.C.) nailed down the save, his third of the year.

PC jumped to an early lead by scoring two runs each in the first two innings. An RBI double from Tony Micklon (Sumter, S.C.) and an RBI single from Bryant gave the Blue Hose a pair of runs in the first before NC Central took one back in the second on an RBI single from Carter Williamson.

PC answered in the second, capitalizing on an NC Central miscue to take a 4-1 lead. Nate Chong (Duluth, Ga.) got on base with a double and Billy Motroni (Goose Creek, S.C.) reached on an error that allowed Chong to score. Two batters later, Andrew Williams (Augusta, Ga.) laced a double down the right field line to bring Motroni home.

Two innings later, the Eagles clawed within one thanks to a two-run home run from Tyler Simpson to pull NC Central closer, 4-3.

The Blue Hose restored their three-run lead in the top of the fifth. An RBI double from Brandon Paul (Augusta, Ga.) and a sacrifice fly from Jay Lizanich (Greer, S.C.) put the visitors ahead, 6-3.

NC Central turned to the long ball again in the bottom of the inning as Nate Smith lifted a solo shot to right field to cut PC's lead to two, 6-4.

In the top of the sixth, PC loaded the bases but could only bring around one. Ryan Burt (Cayce, S.C.) laced an RBI single to right that brought in Motroni before a double play ended the scoring.

Michael Ricchi (McKinney, Texas) appeared for an inning and two-thirds of relief after replacing White, allowing only one run on three hits. The freshman also struck out three in the appearance.

True to the theme of the game, NC Central responded in the seventh. The Eagles' Troy Marrow took second on a double and scored on a two-out double from Ross Plummer to narrow PC's lead to 7-5 after seven.

In the eighth, Buck Mosteller (Woodruff, S.C.) got out of a jam to leave two Eagles stranded and get out of the inning unscathed. Bryant then connected on his first home run of the season in the ninth to give PC three runs of breathing room, 8-5.

Grammer took to the mound looking for the save. The senior loaded the bases but gave up one run to seal the win for the Blue Hose, 8-6.
