The Presbyterian College opened a two-match road trip with a 3-0 loss at Liberty in Big South action Friday evening in Lynchburg, Va. The Flames won by scores of 25-15, 25-8, and 25-19.

Knotted at 9-9 in the first, Liberty went on an 11-3 run to turn a close set into an eight-point lead for the Flames, 20-12. Ashton Stewart’s kill cut the lead to seven, 20-13, but the Flames scored the next four to make it 24-13. PC used a Samantha Del Toro block and a Halle Tripp kill to cut it to 24-15, but the Flames sealed the 25-15 win with a Casey Goodwin successful attack.
Liberty broke open a 4-3 lead with a 13-4 run to extend it to 17-7, the run being snapped with a Sierra Davis kill. The Blue Hose scores just one more point, an Ashton Stewart kill, as Liberty’s 8-1 run gave the home team the 25-8 win.
PC stormed out of the gates in set three, building a 7-3 lead off two kills apiece from Martina Shamley and Samantha Del Toro. Liberty rallied to the 10-9 lead off a 7-2 run, with PC tying it back at 10-10 off a Shamley kill. Both traded points with Liberty eventually taking a two-point lead again, 18-16 off a Gabrielle Vess kill and PC attack error. Liberty extended the lead to five, 22-17. The Blue Hose cut it to four, 23-19, capped by a Tripp kill, but kills from Sirena Vorster and Vess sealed the 25-19 set and match win.
Players of the Matches
Del Toro led PC on offense with nine kills and a .444 hitting percentage. Halle Tripp added seven kills, with Sara Rogers finishing with 16 assists. Mikayla Register ad Megan Jones each added four digs.
Vess paced Liberty with 13 kills, with Anna Willey adding 33 assists and Leah Clayton recording 14 digs.
Stats of the Match
Liberty held a .315-.100 advantage in hitting percentage, posting 11 more kills, 40-29. The Flames added 46 digs to PC’s 36, with blocks in favor of the home team, 8-1.
PC drops to 4-23 overall and 2-10 in the league, while Liberty improves to 15-11, 10-4.
PC is on the road at Radford, Nov. 5, in a 4 p.m., match.
