Trailing by two sets, the Presbyterian College volleyball team rallied to take the third before falling in a close fourth set to lose to Charleston Southern on the road, 3-1, in Big South action Tuesday evening. CSU won the first two sets, 25-14 and 25-23, before dropping set three 23-25. The Bucs edged PC in the fourth set, 25-21.

Charleston Southern held PC to four points in the opening first set, building an 11-4 lead and extending it to its largest margin at 19-8. The Blue Hose cut the lead o eight at 20-12 but CSU took the final five of seven points to win 25-14.
A much closer set in the second, PC led 15-11 midway through off three kills apiece from Sierra Davis and Samantha Del Toro. A 4-0 run by CSU tied the set at 15-15, with both teams trading points, the last tie coming at 20-20 off a Del Toro kill. CSU scored three straight to make it 23-20, but PC rallied with kills from Del Toro and Sara Rogers to make it a one-point set, 23-22. The Blue Hose would add another kill by Ashton Stewart but two from CSU’s Addison Kaderli gave the Bucs the 25-23 win.
The third set saw eight ties, with neither team ever able to break away. The last time came at 18-18, with PC winning the next three, including off a Lena Gavin kill, to take a 21-18 lead. PC took a 23-20 lead off another Del Toro kill, but CSU won the next three out of four to cut the margin to one at 24-23. Stewart ended the CSU threat with a kill to give PC the 25-23 victory.
CSU took the early 10-5 lead, but PC kept chipping away to cut the margin to one, 13-12 and again at 18-17. The Bucs went on a 5-0 run to extend the lead back to five at 23-18. PC made it 24-21 off a ball handling error by a PC service error sealed the 25-21 fourth set and match win.
Players of the Matches
Samantha Del Toro and Sierra Davis led PC on offense with 11 kills each, followed by Ashton Stewart with her 10 on the night for her team-leading .318 hitting percentage. Sara Rogers added 33 assists, with Mikayla Register adding 19 digs.
Brooke Monssen and Hannah Western led Charleston Southern with 13 kills each.
Stats of the Match
CSU held the 46-44 edge in kills, but had seven less errors, 20-27, to post a .171 hitting percentage, compared to .098 for PC. The Blue Hose had more assists, 43-41, and eight less digs, 81-89. CSU recorded two more blocks, 8-6.
PC drops to 4-22 overall and 2-9 in the league, while CSU improves to 12-16, 7-5.
PC is on the road at Liberty Nov. 4, and at Radford, Nov. 5, with Friday’s match at 7 p.m., and Saturday’s at 4 p.m.
