High Point snapped a two-match losing streak with a 3-0 win over the Presbyterian College volleyball team in Big South action Friday evening at Templeton Center in Clinton, S.C.. The Panthers won by scores of 25-12, 25-18, and 25-17.

Set by Set
High Point jumped out to the 7-1 lead in the first set, capitalizing on sox Panther kills. PC cut the lead to five at 10-5, helped in part to kills from Sierra Davis and Halle Tripp. The Panthers responded with a 13-4 run to make it 23-9. PC rattle off three unanswered, capped off another Tripp kill, but it was HPU with the next two off back to back kills from Molly Livingston to give the visitors the 25-12 set one win.

Down by five early in the second set, PC rallied back to within three, 11-8, helped by a kill from Martina Shamley. High Point used an 8-3 run to extend its lead to 19-12, before PC got to within four 21-17, capped by a kill from Samantha Del Toro. The Panthers won the next four of five points, highlighted with a set-ending kill from Savannah Angel, to earn the 25-18 second set victory.

A close third set early, PC trailed by one 5-6, before back to back kills by Ashton Stewart, gave PC a 7-6 lead. Tied again at 10-10, the Blue Hose went on a 4-1 run to build a 14-11 lead. High Point rallied with a run of its own, this one 6-1, helped by two kills from Livingston, to take a 17-15 lead. PC cut it to one, 17-16,, off a Tripp kill, but it was HPU with the next two for the 20-16 lead. The Blue Hose made it 21-17, with the Panthers scoring the final four to take the 25-17 set and match win.

Players of the Match
Halle Tripp led PC with six kills, followed by four from Erin Eulitz and Ashton Stewart each. Sara Rogers added 14 assists, with Mikayla Register finishing with eight digs. Stewart added two block solos and three block assists.

High Point was led by Jordan Hefner with 11 kills and Molly Livingston with 10. Carly Jimenez added 23 assists, while Megan Kennedy added 20 digs.

Stats of the Match
While attacks were similar at 94-93, with High Point one higher, kills were lopsided as the Panthers posted 47 to PC’s 21. Errors were even at 15 apiece. The Panthers posted a .340 hitting percentage, including .562 in the first set, while the Blue Hose recorded a .065 hitting percentage. High Point held a 48-31 advantage in digs. The Blue Hose had more blocks, 9-5.

PC drops to 4-18 overall and 2-6 in the league, while High Point improves to 15-7, 6-3.
