The Presbyterian College volleyball team rallied from two down to force a fifth and deciding set, only to get edged by New Orleans in a back and forth battle, to fall 3-2 in action at the FGCU Hampton Inn/Homewood Suites Classic being held in Fort Myers, Fla.

The Blue Hose dropped the first two sets, 27-29 and 14-25, before taking the next two both by 25-18 scores.

PC, which drops to 1-1, takes on host Florida Gulf Coast at 7:00 p.m. Saturday. New Orleans moves to 1-1 on the young season.

After falling early in the fifth set, 9-5, PC used a 6-1 run, highlighted by a kill and ace by Rachel Elshoff, to take an 11-10 lead. The Blue Hose built a 13-11 lead, but two New Orleans kills and two PC errors gave the Privateers set and match point, 14-13. A PC attack error gave New Orleans the 15-13 set and match win.

Elshoff paced the team with 14 kills and 52 total attacks, followed by Ashton Stewart with 12 and Samantha Del Toro with nine. Mikayla Register paced the Blue Hose with 23 digs. PC finished with 51 kills, compared to 56 for New Orleans. The Privateers recorded 11 total blocks, including 20 block assists, while PC had six on the morning. New Orleans posted a .204 hitting percentage, with PC at .179. Blessing Dunn led the Privateers with 15 kills, with Rondolyn Bryant following with 13. Kaitlyn Grice led UNO with six block assists.
