Mabrey Named to Big South Pre-season All-Conference Team

Presbyterian College Outside hitter Presley Mabrey (Lyman, S.C.) was named to the Big South Volleyball Preseason All-Conference team, as voted by the League's head volleyball coaches.  The Blue Hose were picked to finish eighth in the preseason poll, released today by the Big South.  

Mabrey led PC last season in attacks with kills per set at 3.41 and kills with 382.  Her 48 service aces is also tops on the team and in the Big South.  A 2011 second-team All-Conference member, she had a career-high 29 kills at Jacksonville and a career mark of 20 digs against UNC Asheville.  In just three seasons at PC, she has already reached number on in PC's Division I record book in kills, as well as kills per set.  Last season Mabrey recorded 21 double-digit kill matches, including three of over 20.  She also recorded double-digit digs in 11 matches and had a season-high four total blocks at High Point.  The senior was also third in the league in kills with 3.41 a set.

The Blue Hose, picked to finish eighth with 45 points, are looking for another successful season in 2012.  With 13 wins in 2011, PC tied its win total from the 2010 season, which was the highest since going 20-13 in 2007.  The seven league wins was the most for the team since joining the Big South.

Liberty, under the direction of ninth-year head coach Shane Pinder, was picked to finish first for the second year in a row.   The Lady Flames received nine first-place votes and finished with 99 points.  Radford, last year's Big South Tournament runner-up, finished second in the poll with 78 points and received the remaining first-place vote.

PC opens the season Friday, Aug. 24 as they take on Seattle at the UNiWyo Wyoming Invite being held Aug. 24-25 at Wyoming.
