Presbyterian College volleyball head coach Chris Belshe announced the signing of middle blocker Emma Barkley to a National Letter of Intent for the 2012 season.

"I am so excited to add Emma (Barkley) to our program," said Belshe.  "Emma has great athletic ability and volleyball skill and should provide us with even more depth next year.  She has been around volleyball her entire life, is the daughter of a volleyball coach and just gets the game of volleyball.  We look forward to her athleticism, intelligence and skill to immediately help our program more successful in the Big South Conference."

Barkley, a native of Colorado Spring, Col., led Cheyenne Mountain High School in total blocks as a junior and senior.  Second on her team in hitting efficiency as a junior, she was second in the state of Colorado as a senior.  Barkley led her team to the conference, district, region and state championships her junior and senior year.

Barkley, whose team went undefeated this past season, earned Denver Post 4A All-State and Colorado Springs Gazette 4A/5A Honorable Mention as a junior.  She was named to the second team by both her senior year.  Her senior season, she was also named to the Colorado Springs 4A Metro League first team and the Colorado Coaches of Girls Sports All-State team.

Barkley played for the Colorado Juniors, which won the USAV Junior National Championships in 2010 and 2011.  As a middle blocker she led the team in hitting efficiency the last two years.

The Yearbook Co-Editor is strong academically as well, having been named to the All-State/All Academic first team selection as a junior and senior.  She was an AP Scholar her junior year and was on the Principal's Honor Roll as a freshman and junior.
