BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Presbyterian College men’s tennis team ended a two-match skid and picked up a conference win in the process, defeating Gardner-Webb, 5-2, on Wednesday afternoon in Boiling Springs, N.C. PC improves to 6-5, 1-0 in the Big South, while GWU falls to 4-6, 0-1 in the Big South.

The Blue Hose got off to a strong start by sweeping the three doubles matches to take the 1-0 match lead. Ben Kelley and Joel Roberts earned a 6-4 victory on court one, while Brandon Mills and Alexander Lykou won 6-2 on court two. Diego Manzanas and Jaime Castillo-Lopez claimed a 6-1 victory on court three, making it a clean sweep.

In singles, PC won four of the six matches, including two in three sets. Mills recorded a 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 victory on court two, while Alejandro Bejar also won in three sets at on court four, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2. Manzanas earned a straight set win at No. 3, 6-2, 6-1, and Kelley won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 5 to improve to 9-2 on the season in singles.

Court one and six would go to the Runnin’ Bulldogs. Lykou took the second set, 6-3, against Maximillian Scholl but the first and third went to Scholl, 6-1, 6-0.

PC returns to action on Saturday with another road match at Mercer. The two had its match against one another rained out back on February 5.
