Phillips Leads Blue Hose At Big South Championship

NINETY SIX, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men's golf team ended day one of the 2012 Big South Conference Men's Golf Championship in ninth place with an opening day score of 311.

Redshirt senior Evan Phillips (Lexington, S.C.) shot a two-over par 74 to lead the Blue Hose and tie for 23rd. Freshman Samuel Jackson (Pelion, S.C.) shot 76 to tie for 31st while sophomore William Sigg (Augusta, Ga.) shot 78 to tie for 36th.

A few strokes further back, junior Matt Sizemore (Richmond, Va.) shot 83 and sophomore Carter Davis (Spartanburg, S.C.) shot 84 to earn 43rd and 44th respectively.

Liberty shot 280 as a team to take the early lead on the team leaderboard thanks in part to, the individual leader, Chase Marinell's opening round of 67.

Winthrop University is hosting the three-day event on the par-72 course at Grand Harbor's The Patriot Golf Course. PC will tee off on hole number 10 at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Fans can follow along by clicking here.
