Radford, Va. – The Presbyterian College softball team was defeated by Radford on Sunday afternoon in the weekend series finale, 10-5. The loss moves PC to 10-28-2 on the season, 0-11 against Big South opponents.
The Blue Hose bats were led by the left side of the infield, shortstop Kiley Kross and third basemen Macy Hyatt. Kross collected three RBI singles on the afternoon, setting a new career mark in runs batted in. The freshman has now taken the team lead with 19 RBIs on the season. Hyatt launched her first home run of the season in the top of the fourth inning. Her two-run shot was the second of her career at PC, the first also coming against Radford last year on April 28. Jonnie Petree collected her 12th multi-hit game of the season and also stole two bases, bringing her up to 25 thefts on the year.
Taylor Ward got the start in the circle for the Blue Hose and took her ninth loss of the season. The freshman worked the first 1.1 innings, giving up three runs on five hits before being relieved by Alyssa Batastini. Batastini pitched the next 4.1 innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits. Sarah Ramsbottom collected the last out in the bottom of the sixth for PC.
The Blue Hose will return to action on Wednesday afternoon when they host Charleston Southern for a single game. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
