Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College softball team dropped a pair of games to Hampton on Saturday afternoon. PC was defeated 8-4 in the first game and then fell 4-2 in the second contest. The losses move the Blue Hose to 10-22-2 on the season, 0-5 in the Big South.

 

In game one, Kiley Kross led the team with three hits, including her team leading seventh double of the season that brought home a run. Casey Gerhard picked up a pair of RBIs, one on a single and one on a sacrifice fly, to move to 13 on the campaign. Ansley Wilbanks, Chelsea Lyons, Macy Hyatt, and Kross scored the runs for the Blue Hose.

 

Alyssa Batastini got the start in the circle in the first contest of the afternoon and took the loss. The redshirt junior allowed six runs (five earned) on nine hits and three walks in 6.2 innings of work. She was relieved in the seventh inning by Taylor Ward and Courtney White, who would record the final out of the frame. Batastini is now 6-15 on the year.

 

Ward would get the start in the circle for the Blue Hose in the second half of the twinbill. The freshman gave up four runs (two earned) on eight hits in her sixth complete game of the season. She now holds a 4-6 record for the season.

 

Wilbanks tallied a team-high three hits, including an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 3-1 game. White brought home the second run for PC with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the final frame. Jonnie Petree and Gerhard each had a multi-hit game in game two.

 

The Blue Hose will conclude their three-game series with the Lady Pirates on Sunday. First pitch is slated for 12:00 p.m.
