A three-run home run by Kelsie Sanchez proved to be the difference as the Presbyterian College softball team earned the 11-3 five-inning win over Western Carolina in the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon in Clinton, S.C. The Catamounts used a two-run home run in the sixth inning to rally to the 3-2 game two win.

Players of Game One
Kelsie Sanchez led the team with three RBI off two hits. With runners on first and second in the first inning of game one she laced a shot over the left field wall for her third home run of the season, putting the Blue Hose up 4-0. She was followed by Blaire Miller with three runs scored, two hits and two RBI, the RBI coming off a single in the bottom of the fifth to give PC the 10-3 lead. Megan Anderson added a RBI with a single in the first for the game's first run. Lindsay Harris added a RBI as well with a bases laoded walk in the bottom of the third.

Also collecting hits for PC in game one was Jonnie Petree with two hits, and Madison Longanecker and Presley Bissett with one apiece.

Four different Catamounts recorded a hit with Abigail Daniels, Madison Armstrong, and Erica Hayes collecting one RBI each. Daniels' groundout in the third put WCU on the board, 1-4, while a RBI single from Armstrong in the fourth made it 2-6. A Hayes' RBI single that same inning cut the lead to three, 3-6.

Alex Cook (2-5) led PC in the circle, throwing 5.0 innings and giving up two earned runs off four hits, with two strikeouts. Buchanan started for WCU (1-6) and pitched 3.0 innings, surrendering eight hits and six tuns, with two strikeouts.

Stats of Game One
PC finished with 11 runs off 13 hits and one error, while WCU posted three runs, four hits, and four errors.

Players of Game Two
Courtney Price led Western Carolina with three hits, her second hit of the game coming in the top of the fourth with a triple to right field. She scored the game's first run when the ball from right got past the third baseman for PC's first error.

Hunter Gibbons had just one hit, but posted a team-leading two RBI, the two coming off a two-run home run in the top of the sixth to give WCU a 3-2 lead.

Jonnie Petree led PC with three hits, a single in the third, fifth, and sixth innings. Presley Bissett recorded two hits, with a single in the second and sixth innings.

Megan Anderson posted a RBI off one hit, hers bringing in Baire Miller to give PC a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning. The first run of that inning came off a WCU error, which brought home Petree. Also posting a hit apiece for PC was Hope Rogers and Kelsie Sanchez.

Katie Brown (5-8) took the loss, going 7.0 innings and surrendering two earned runs off six hits, with six strikeouts. Lily Hayes (4-4) went the distance for WCU in the win, giving up two runs off eight hits, with eight strikeouts.

PC finished with two runs off eight hits and one error, while WCU posted three runs, six hits, and three errors.
