Eastern Kentucky used a three-run home run in the fourth to take the eventual 4-2 win over the Presbyterian College softball team in action at the Eagle Classic, being held Mar. 3-5, in Statesboro, Ga. Blaire Miller provided the runs for PC with her two-RBI double in the fourth inning.

PC collected hits from Megan Anderson, who went two-for-three on the afternoon, and Blaire Miller, who was one-for-two with two RBI.

How It Happened
A pitching duel early, neither team collected more than a hit in the first three innings. That changed in the top of the fourth with a lead-off walk by Mia Sanchez and a single by Rachel Minogue. Those were followed up with a three-run home run by Johnkyria Alston to give EKU a 3-0 lead.

The Blue Hose responded with a two runs in the bottom of the fourth, with Hope Rogers picking up a walk with one out. After Megan Anderson single to left, Kelsie Sanchez put together a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners to second and third. Blaire Miller hit her second double of the season with a shot to centerfield, and drove in the runners to make cut into EKU’s lead.

Alston came back in the top of the sixth with her second home run of the game to make it the final 4-2 score.

Final Lines
PC finished with two runs off three this with no errors, while EKU posted four runs, seven hits, and one error.

Kaylee Allen (2-3) started for PC, going 3.0 innings and striking out three, while giving up three earned runs and four hits. Alex Cook came in relief for 4.0 innings, surrendering three hits and one run, with two strikeouts.

Alex Sallberg (2-3) started in the circle for the Colonels, going 3.2 innings and surrendering two earned runs and three hits, with three strikeouts. Mollie Paulick went 3.0 innings in relief, striking out two with no hits and no runs.

PC drops to 7-11, while Eastern Kentucky moves to 6-9
