CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men’s soccer team fell to No. 4 Coastal Carolina 2-0 Wednesday at Martin Stadium in Big South Conference action.
The Blue Hose had opportunities go awry in the second half as the Blue Hose dropped to 0-9-1, 0-2-1 in the Big South, while the Chanticleers improved to 7-0-1, 2-0-0 on the year.
Coastal netted both of their goals in the first half. Louis Daragent found the back of the net for the first time this season in the 10th minute off a corner kick from Miguel Gutierrez. Bryce Follensbee scored in the 15th minute off a cross from Elis Bjornsson that was headed in the 18-yard box to Follensbee’s foot.
PC’s Patrick Frentz (Louisville, Ky.) took a corner kick in the 47th minute that bounced around in the box with a Blue Hose player unable to poke the ball towards the goal and was cleared out. Later in the half, Steven Huppe (Maggie Valley, N.C.) took a shot from the left side, right outside the 18, that sailed just over the cross bar.
Johnny Archer (Charlotte, N.C.) collected eight saves in goal for PC.
The match between the Blue Hose and the Chanticleers ended 2-0 in the last two seasons in favor of Coastal.
Presbyterian travels to Rock Hill, S.C. to take on Winthrop 2 p.m. Saturday.
