Ruff Racks Up a Couple of Awards
Michael Ruff (Whitmire, S.C.) earned a couple of honors today, as he was named the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) National Kickoff Returner of the Week, as well as the Big South Special Teams Player of the Week.
Ruff opened the 2012 season with a bang against Brevard, returning the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown -- becoming the first player in Big South history to return a season-opening kickoff for a touchdown.
It was the longest kickoff return in PC's Division I history and the first score from the opening kick for the Blue Hose. It was the fourth time in League annals that an opening kickoff was returned for a TD.
The Blue Hose are in action Saturday, September 8, at Georgia Tech. The game, which begins at 7 p.m., will be televised on ESPN3.
