Dowling Leads Blue Hose At Kiawah Intercollegiate

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The Presbyterian College women's golf team shot a combined 951 (325, 303, 323) over three days and two courses to finish 26th of 33 at the competitive Kiawah Island Intercollegiate on Tuesday.

Junior Micah Dowling (Orlando, Fla.) led the Blue Hose with a three-round 227 (79, 70, 78) to tie for 26th. Dowling set her personal best for a single round (70) during her only round at Cougar Point.  In doing so, she became only the third woman in PC's history to shoot under par for a round.

Senior Kasay Holbrook (Dawsonville, Ga.) shot 237 (80, 78, 79) to finish tied for 91st.  Senior Carrie McClenaghan (Greenville, S.C.) finished tied for 127th with a three-round score of  243 (81, 78, 84).

Junior Kim Carpenter (Tampa, Fla.) shot 248 (88, 77, 83) to finish tied for 149th while her twin sister Kyleen Carpenter (Tampa, Fla.) shot 251 (85, 83, 83) and finished 158th.

UNCG's Fanny Cnops shot 214 (72, 71, 71) to win individual medalist honors by a stroke.  Augusta State held on to win the team championship behind two top-3 finishers and a team score of 877 (286, 296, 295).

The Blue Hose will next compete at the Spring Break Spider Invitational hosted by Richmond from March 9-11.
