McClenaghan Leads Blue Hose On Day One

NINETY-SIX, S.C. - The Presbyterian College women's golf team finished day one of the 2012 Big South Women's Golf Championship in seventh place with a team score of 318. Seniors Carrie McClenaghan and Kasay Holbrook are both in the top-20.

McClenaghan (Greenville, S.C.) finished day one tied for fifth with an opening round of 74. Her four birdies on the day not only led the team, but tied with three others to lead the field of 50 golfers. Holbrook (Dawsonville, Ga.) shot three-over on both sides, ending the round at 78 tied for 18th.

Sophomore Kalie Goodman (Easley, S.C.) shot 80 to tie for 25th. Junior Kim Carpenter (Tampa, Fla.) tied for 43rd at 86. Sophomore Mary Kathryn Linder (Athens, Ga.) shot 91 to tie for 46th.

Top-seeded Campbell opened a four-stroke lead over the defending champion Chanticleers. The Camels' Michelle Koh was the only player to shoot under-par, earning the day's top-spot at 71. Full results are attached to the article.

Fans are reminded that the Blue Hose are playing on an invitation-only basis and are not eligible for awards until the 2012-13 season.
