CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women’s lacrosse team lost to Winthrop, 17-4, on Wednesday afternoon at Bailey Memorial Stadium. Mia Creighton was the game’s leading scorer with eight points (7G-1A), while Sarah Marshall led the Blue Hose with three points (1G-2A).

Scoring the Game

Presbyterian College kept it even early, as Kayla Koch recorded a pair of early saves and the Blue Hose were able to clear the ball to the offensive zone. Madison Berg’s shot at 28:18 was saved by the Eagles’ Alaina Girani.

Winthrop broke the deadlock with a goal from Creighton at 25:44. She doubled the lead with her second goal at 18:22. The Eagles grew the lead to 6-0 over the next eight minutes. Kara DiClemente scored PC’s first goal of the day with 8:33 remaining off an assist from Marshall to make it a 6-1 game. However, the Eagles entered half winning 11-1.

The Blue Hose struck first in the second half, as Sophie Krist scored a man-up goal off Marshall’s second assist at 28:59 to bring the score to 11-2. Winthrop and PC traded goals, with Marshall scoring her 23rd of the season, assisted from Cady Roberts, at 21:10. Megan Dreyer scored an unassisted goal, her 14th of the year, with 9:52 remaining to cut a 2-0 run by Winthrop and make it 14-4. The Eagles added three more goals, including one with eight seconds remaining, to win 17-4.

Presbyterian College moves to 1-13 on the year and 0-4 in the Big South, while Winthrop improves to 6-8 (3-0).


Sarah Marshall has scored a goal in seven consecutive games and leads the team with 34 points (23G-11A).

Kara DiClemente scored her first goal of the year and second point.

Kayla Koch recorded a season-high 12 saves.
