CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team announced a challenging 2019 schedule on Tuesday. The schedule, announced by head coach Elton Pollock features 10 games against ACC and SEC opponents including matchups with three 2018 NCAA tournament teams. The Blue Hose will play 26 games at the PC Baseball Complex including a home opener on February 22.
“This is arguably the most challenging schedule we’ve ever released,” said Pollock. “In addition to quality Big South competition, we will also face opponents from the SEC, ACC and many other top conferences in our region. To say we are excited would be an understatement. There is an anticipation which permeates the heart and soul of every current player, coach, parent, supporter, and alum in Blue Hose Nation. There is still lots of work to do, but we are looking forward to the spring.”
The 2019 slate opens against SEC foe, Alabama in Tuscaloosa in a three-game series from February 15-17 and a single game at South Carolina on February 20.
The Marist Red Foxes will open the home schedule with a three game series beginning February 22. After a single game at historic Durham Athletic Park against NC Central Eagles on February 27 the Blue Hose return home for a four game series against Brown before a rematch with the Eagles in Clinton on March 5.
PC visits the University of Georgia (March 8-10) before concluding its Peach State swing at Kennesaw State on March 12-13.
The Blue Hose face Davidson for three games during the 2019 season. After a March 19 matchup on the road, the Wildcats and Blue Hose will meet at a to be determined neutral site on April 16. The season series concludes on April 23 when Davidson visits Clinton.
The remaining non-conference games features matchups with Wofford on March 27 at home before traveling to the Terriers on April 10. They have a home-and-home with Georgia State on May 8th in Atlanta and May 14th in Clinton. The Blue Hose are also scheduled to travel to Georgia Southern on April 2 and visit the Pitt Panthers on April 26-27.
Big South action opens with back-to-back home series as Radford comes to town March 15-18 and Gardner-Webb visits PC March 22-24.
The Blue Hose will travel to Campbell from March 29-31 in one of the four road conference series. PC is also slated to travel to USC Upstate (April 12-14), Longwood (May 10-12) and Charleston Southern (May 16-18).
The home conference schedule finishes with series versus UNC Asheville (April 5-7), High Point (April 18-20), and Winthrop (May 3-5).
The Big South tournament will be held May 21-25 at the Fayetteville Ballpark in Fayetteville, N.C., the future home of the Buies Creek Astros in the Carolina league.
