Boiling Springs, N.C. – The Presbyterian College Blue Hose (3-12, 1-7) women’s soccer team fell to the Runnin’ Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb (4-11-1, 2-4-1) by a 2-0 score on Wednesday night at Greene-Harbison Stadium.
How it happened:
The Blue Hose dominated the first half in every way possible but were unable to get on the board. Presbyterian got things started just five minutes into the game with a corner kick by Louise McGirt and then five minutes later France Whitesides would kick back to back corner kicks. Those corner kicks would lead to a shot on goal by Sarah Yoss, the Runnin’ Bulldogs goal keeper, Keely Brown, would make the save.
PC would end up outshooting Gardner-Webb 10-3 in the first half with three of those shots resulting in a save by the Runnin’ Bulldogs. Presbyterian also had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks proving that the Blue Hose were the aggressor’s in the first half.
The match stayed tied until the 62:32 mark when Gardner-Webb was able to get a header from inside the box over top of Anna Coleman who played in goal in the second half for the Blue Hose. Just 3:55-minutes later the Runnin’ Bulldogs were able to get a second goal which provided some breathing room.
The Blue Hose did not quit fighting down the stretch as they tacked on two more corner kicks and a couple shots but were unable to find the back of the net.

- The Blue Hose had a 7-2 advantage in first half corner kicks and 9-7 overall.
- Abby Jones has allowed one goal over her last 135 minutes played in goal, good for a 0.50 goals against average over that stretch.
- The Blue Hose are now 16-7-1 all-time versus Gardner-Webb.
The Blue Hose wrap up the regular season with Senior Day on Saturday at 7 p.m. versus High Point.
