Rock Hill, S.C. – A 28-9 run by the Winthrop Eagles over the final 11 minutes of play lifted Winthrop to a 63-49 win over the Presbyterian College men’s basketball team on Wednesday night at the Winthrop Coliseum.

The Blue Hose built a 15-10 lead over the first eight minutes of the game but with 12:11 to go in the half Winthrop went on a 19-2 run to pull ahead 29-17 with 3:55 to play in the half. Dillard and Davon Bell scored 11 of the 15 points for the Blue Hose in the initial run by Presbyterian. Dillard pulled the Blue Hose within eight at 29-21 but Winthrop hit a three to head into the half up 32-21.
Presbyterian opened up a 37-35 lead with just under 12 minutes to play following a 16-3 run to open up the half. Yonger scored all 12 of his points in the second half, the final coming on a three that tied the game at 40. Winthrop then went on a 23-6 run to take a 63-46 lead, the Blue Hose scored the final three to make the final score of 63-49.

The Blue Hose move to 10-16, 3-10 in Big South play while Winthrop moves to 15-9, 9-4 in Big South play.
Presbyterian finished with 11 steals, its second highest in a single game this season.
Romeo Crouch finished with a career high four steals.
Presbyterian hosts Charleston Southern on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. or 45 minutes following the conclusion of the women’s game.
