ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team continued its winning ways in Big South play with a five set victory over Winthrop on Friday night. The Blue Hose won 26-24, 18-25, 21-25, 25-23, 20-18.

Freshman Erin Cooke led the attack with a triple-double that included a team-high 17 kills. She also added 22 assists and 15 digs in the victory. Sophomore Sydney De Jong added 14 kills and eight blocks with junior Erin Eulitz picking up a double-double with 13 kills and 14 digs. Freshman Lauren Talbert added a double-double with 10 kills and 20 digs. Sophomore Sierra Jones had a team-high 33 assists with redshirt junior Daley Gosnell leading PC with 21 digs.  

In the first set, the two teams went back and forth in the early going battling to a 6-all tie in the opening of the set before PC went on a 10-3 run to take a 16-9 lead in the set. Winthrop battled back to keep the set tight and both teams traded runs before a Talbert kill and Jones ace finished off a 26-24 set victory.

Set two started much the same as the opening set as there were 10 ties and three lead changes. The hosts tied the match at 15 and then closed on a 10-3 run to pick up a 25-18 set two victory.

PC jumped out to a 14-8 lead in the third set before Winthrop battled back to tie the match at 21-all before scoring the final four points of the set to take a 25-21 set win.

The fourth set was similar to the second set as it featured a match high 15 ties and five lead changes. Both teams battled throughout the set before PC was able to put away Winthrop 25-23 to force a fifth and final set on Friday night.

In the fifth set, Winthrop got out to a 9-6 lead before the Blue Hose battled back to make it 13-all. The two teams kept up the theme of the night trading points before back-to-back kills from Wright and Eulitz gave PC the five set victory.
