A two-run home run by Kaylynn Batten in the top of the first put Longwood ahead 2-0.  The Lancers added a run in the top of the third and fifth innings off a sacrifice fly from Batten and a RBI double from Karleigh Donovan, respectively.  The Blue Hose got two runs back in the bottom of the fifth off a Chelsea Lyons’ RBI single and an Ansley Wilbanks RBI triple, but Longwood spotted three in the sixth, those coming off a RBI single from Krista Kelly and a sacrifice bunt from Destiny Martinez, to take the eventual 7-2 win.

A PC error in the top of the first inning resulted in Longwood’s first run of the game, with a fielder’s choice and a two-RBI triple by Batten in the second giving the Lancers the early 4-0 lead.  Donovan made it 5-0 in the top of the fifth with a RBI single to center field.

Longwood opened the bottom of the sixth with two singles to put runners in scoring position.  Back to back singles by Martinez and Batten brought in two runs, while a PC error and a fielder’s choice plated three more to give the Lancers the 10-0 lead.  A RBI single by Jenna Dunn, and a two-RBI double by Leah Powell made it 13-0 as part of the eight-run inning.  PC put runners on base off a single by Megan Anderson and a walk by Lindsay Harris but a double play ended the potential rally and game with Longwood earning the 13-0 six-inning win.
