Macon, Ga. – A 7-0 run over a 10-minute stretch at the end of the first half and beginning of the second half was enough for Mercer to defeat the Presbyterian College Blue Hose on Sunday afternoon in Macon, Ga. by a 21-7 score.

Lauren Schaaf recorded her first hat trick of the season with three goals, it was the third time this season a Blue Hose player has finished with a hat trick as Claire Frase and Sarah Marshall also each had a hat trick against Wofford.

Mercer was +9 in the turnover column and +11 in ground balls which helped lead it in the victory.
Mercer opened up the scoring just 27 seconds into the game but the Blue Hose answered less than a minute later with a goal by Cady Roberts, her fifth of the season. The Bears scored the next two goals gaining a 3-1 advantage but the Blue Hose got back on the board with a goal by Marshall, her team leading seventh of the season making it 3-2 with 16:32 to play in the opening half. Mercer answered with a 3-0 run to take a 6-2 lead but goals by Natalie Barnett, Schaaf and Kelly Hyman pulled PC to within one at 6-5 with 4:28 to play in the half but Mercer went on a 4-0 run to lead 10-5 at the intermission.
A goal by Schaaf at the 24:59 mark snapped a 7-0 run by Mercer that stretched for nearly 10 minutes in the first and second half. Mercer followed with the next seven goals making it 20-6 before Schaaf recorded her first hat trick of the season. The Bears added one more goals and the final was 21-7.

The Blue Hose move to 1-6 on the season while Mercer is now 3-3.
The Blue Hose were 75.0 percent on clears as they went 12-16.
Schaaf had her first hat trick of the season with three goals.
Frase finished with a season high three ground balls and three draw controls.
