AIKEN, SC - The Presbyterian College men’s golf team ended day one of the 21st annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate in 17th place with a combined score of 601 (304, 297). Junior Weston Sanders led the Blue Hose finishing +3 on the par-70, 6,617-yard Palmetto GC course.

Sanders shot 143 (71, 72) to tie for 37th and led the team with six birdies and 23 pars on the day. Carson Spears tied for 74th with a score of 152 (78, 74), John David Chambers is tied for 78th at 153 (76, 77), Salil Ghamande is tied for 86th at 158 (84, 74), and James Scott finished 90th at 168 (79, 89).

Virginia has a three-stroke lead for first place after an opening day of 551. Augusta’s Broc Everett shot 133 (66, 67) to take a one-stroke lead for medalist honors into the final day.
