High Point shot 50%, and held the Presbyterian College men’s basketball team to just over 30% en route to a 73-49 win in Big South action Monday evening in High Point, N.C.  JC Younger led all scorers with 19 points, going five-of-eight from three-point range.

High Point finished the game with 50.0% from the field, compared to 30.6% for PC.  The Blue Hose hit seven three-pointers, to the Panthers’ five.  The rebound advantage was held by High Point 41-24, with the Panthers coming away with four more free throws, 16-12.

JC Younger led the offense with 19 points, helped by a five-of-eight effort from behind the three-point arc.  Jaron Withers, Reggie Dillard, and Ruben Arroyo followed with seven points apiece.  Withers, Romeo Crouch, Davon Bell, Dillard and Arroyo each pulled down three rebounds.  Bell finished with six assists as well.  Brandonn Kamga led High Point with 13 points, with Ricky Madison pulling down 13 rebounds.

How It Happened

High Point jumped out to a 13-3 lead six and a half minutes in the game, with JC Younger cutting the margin to seven off a three-pointer at 12:57.  An 11-point game with under 10 to play in the half, Younger came through again with another three, to cut the margin to eight, 12-20, 9:51 on the clock.  HPU responded with five unanswered to go up by 13, 6:25 on the clock.  PC used a basket by Armel TeTe to make it an eight-point game again with just over four to go, but the Panthers outscored the Blue Hose 10-5 the remainder of the half to go into the locker room leading 35-22.

A 7-1 run by High Point to open the second half gave the home team a 42-23 lead, 18:24 left..  PC cut the deficit to 13, 36-49, off a Ruben Arroyo free throw at 12:24, but High Point scored 11 unanswered to lead by 24, 60-36, 8:08 left.  The Blue Hose were unable to mount a rally, falling by the final, 73-49.

PC drops to 8-11 overall and 1-5 in the league, while High Point improves to 8-9, 3-3.
