The Presbyterian College volleyball team rallied back from a 2-0 deficit by taking set three, but could not overcome Campbell in a 3-1 loss in Big South action Saturday afternoon in Clinton, S.C. The Camels won sets one and two, 25-21 and 25-17, with PC taking set three, 25-21. Campbell came back with the set four win, 25-19. Caroline Henderson and Erin Eulitz led the offense with 14 kills apiece.
Scoring the Match
PC trailed early in the first set, 11-4, before fighting its way back to within three, 12-9, helped in part to back to back Martina Shamley kills and two straight service aces from Megan Jones. Three straight by Campbell gave the visitors back a six-point lead, 15-9. The Blue Hose used an ace from Sierra Jones to lead the team to within two, 20-18, with both teams swapping points after that to make it a two-point set again at 22-20. It was the start of a 3-1 run by PC to make it 23-21. That would be it for the PC rally with Allena Heath collecting back to back kills to seal the 25-21 first set win.
Campbell stormed out of the gate in set two, taking an 11-0 lead before PC fought back with five unanswered, highlighted by two Henderson kills, to cut the margin to 11-5. Both teams then traded 3-0 runs to take the score to 14-8 in favor of the Camels. CU extended its lead to 20-10 before three straight from PC cut the margin to seven. A 3-1 Campbell run made it 24-14. PC took the next three of five points but couldn’t catch up with Campbell coming away with the 25-17 second set win.
PC opened strong in the third set, building a 7-1 lead, and extending it to 10-4 until Campbell came back with a 4-1 run to cut the margin to three 11-8. After a back and forth battle, PC found itself in the lead by three again at 19-16. The Blue Hose used a kill by Ashton Stewart and another by Henderson to make it a five-point set, 21-16. Back to back Campbell kills cut the margin back to three, 21-18. The Camels weren’t done yet, getting two more off a Heath kill and a PC error, cutting the lead to two again 22-20. PC rattled off two unanswered, off a Sierra Jones and Allie Wright kill, to give the Blue Hose set point at 24-20. Heath made it 24-21, but a service error completed the PC rally, giving the home team the 25-21 third set win.
Another close set in the fourth, Campbell was able to take an 11-7 lead, off a 4-1 run. Helped by a 4-0 run, PC knotted the set at 12-12. Another 4-1 run by Campbell put the Camels on top 19-15, with an Erin Eulitz kill cutting the margin back to three. Campbell was able to extend the lead back to five, 22-17, but PC cut the margin to four off a Henderson kill. That would be it as back to back Jessica Stocking kills gave Campbell the 25-19 fourth set and match win.

Carolina Henderson and Erin Eulitz led PC with 14 kills each, with Sierra Jones leading in assists with 18. Taylor Farmer added 25 digs, with Jones posting four aces. Allena Heath led Campbell with 27 kills
Stat of the Match
Campbell led in kills, 64-49, and held the attack percentage advantage, .291-.167. PC posted 10 service aces, to Campbell’s six.
The 10 service aces tied for third in aces in a four set match, with Sierra Jones’ four aces also tied for seventh.
Taylor Farmer recorded a career-high 25 digs and three assists.
Megan Jones finished with a career-high tying three assists.
For the Record
PC drops to 5-19 overall and 1-8 in the league, while Campbell improves to 19-8, 6-4.
The Blue Hose are on the road for the next two matches, facing Radford, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m., and High Point Oct. 28, at 2 p.m.
