Statesville, Ga. – The Presbyterian College Blue Hose and Georgia Southern Eagles battled to a 1-1 draw on Friday evening in Statesville, Georgia.

The first half came to an end with the two teams tied at 0-0. Georgia Southern outshot the Blue Hose by a 6-4 margin in the half, but the Eagles goalkeeper had to make a clutch save near the end of the half to preserve the tie.

Georgia Southern broke the tie within the first minute of the second half but the Blue Hose were able to hold them to that one goal goal the remainder of the match. With 15 minutes remaining in the match the Blue Hose were able to tie the score at 1-1 following a nice header assist from Hunter Del Valle allowing Josh Mackie to put the ball in the back of the net.

Neither team scored in the final minutes of the match. The Eagles came out on top in the shots column with a 13-12 margin. Of the Eagles 13 shots, six were on goal as Blue Hose goalkeepers combined for five saves. Four of PC’s 12 shots were on goal.

The two teams each finished with five corner kicks on the evening, the Eagles had 15 fouls compared to the Blue Hose’s 11 team fouls.

The Blue Hose are back in action on Wednesday the 16th in their only home match of the preseason. The match is slated to start at 7 p.m. versus Spartanburg Methodist.
