HIGH POINT, N.C. – Down 2-0, the Presbyterian College volleyball team rallied in the third set, even reaching set point, but couldn’t overcome High Point in the end, falling 3-0 to the Panthers Saturday afternoon in High Point, N.C. The Panthers took the sets by scores of 25-21, 25-11, and 27-25.

Set by Set
In a close and hard-fought affair, the first set saw 10 ties, the last at 18-18 off a PC service error. That was the first of four straight points for High Point as the Panthers took a 21-18 lead. A Halle Tripp kill stopped the rally, but HPU fought back, with a Molly Livingston kill giving the home team a 24-20 lead. Erin Eulitz’s kill cut the margin to three, 24-21, bur Livingston came back with another to give HPU the 25-21 win.

The High Point offense clicked in the second set as the Panthers opened with an 11-4 lead, extending it to 20-6, in part to a 7-0 run. High Point led by as much as 15, taking the eventual 25-11 victory.

A back and forth battle in the third set, High Point took a three-point lead, 15-12, but kills from Eulitz, Tripp, and Sierra Davis tied it at 15-15. The Panthers were able to take another three-point but PC rallied back again to tie it at 21-21. A Samantha Del Toro kill knotted the set at 23-23, with a HPU attack error giving the Blue Hose set point. Livingston’s kill made it 24-24, her service ace the next time up giving the Panthers match point. Not done yet, Del Toro’s kill tied it again at 25-26. Haley Barnes made it 26-25, with a PC attack error handing the Panthers the 27-25 set and match win.

Players of the Matches
Del Toro and Tripp led PC on offense with eight apiece, while Sara Rogers added 26 assists and two service aces. Eulitz and Mikayla Register each had 10 digs.

Barnes and Livingston led High Point with 12 kills apiece. Smith posted 21 assists, while Kennedy finished with 14 digs and three aces. Hefner added seven total blocks.

Stats of the Match
High Point controlled the game in kills, 44-31, and in hitting percentage, .310-.088. Total blocks were in favor of the Panthers, 11-3.

Record
PC ends the season at 5-26 overall and 3-13 in the Big South, while High Point improves to 20-9, 11-5.
