Campbell used 41 kills and 12 service aces to defeat the Presbyterian College volleyball team in three sets Saturday afternoon at Templeton Center in Clinton, S.C. The Camels took the sets by scores of 25-20, 25-16, and 25-13.

Both teams battled back and forth in the opening set, with six ties in the first 20 points. Tied 10-10, PC scored three unanswered to build a 13-10 lead. With PC ahead 14-11, Campbell fought back with a 5-0 run to take a 16-15 lead. The Camels and Blue Hose traded points down the stretch with the score tied again at 18-18. Two straight gave Campbell a 20-18 lead with PC cutting the margin to 20-19 off a service error. Campbell went up 23-19 before Martina Shamley cut it to 23-20 off a kill. That would be it as Campbell took the next two points for the 25-20 win.
Campbell opened the second set with a 6-2 lead before PC chipped away at the lead, cutting the margin to 8-6 off another Shamley kill. The Camels went on a 9-4 run to extend their lead to 17-10. PC cut into the lead several times but could not overcome the margin, falling by the final 25-16.
The Camels opened up a 14-7 lead in the third set and kept the Blue Hose at bay, extending it to 21-11 before taking the 25-13 set and match win.
Players of the Match
Erin Eulitz was tops for PC on offense with 10 kills and just three errors for a .219 hitting percentage. She was followed by Samantha Del Toro with her eight kills. Sara Rogers posted 20 assists, with Mikayla Register recording 11 digs.
Campbell was led by Loni Kreun with 10 kills, with Kayla Schanback recording five service aces to go along with her 19 digs.
Stats of the Match
Campbell held the 41-27 advantage in kills, despite the attacks being fairly even at 95-94 in favor of PC. The Camels recorded 12 aces and had 11 more digs, 51-40. PC had 14 errors, to Campbell’s 10, with the hitting percentage at .330 to .137, in favor of CU. Blocks were even at three apiece. The Camels posted 12 kills to PC’s three.
PC drops to 4-19 overall and 2-7 in the league, while Campbell improves to 11-13, 6-4.
PC hosts Wofford, Tues, Oct. 25, in a 7 p.m., match, while the Camels host Winthrop Friday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m.
