CHATTANOOGA, TN – Presbyterian College’s Emily Swanigan improved upon her school record, running a 5k of 19:08, at the Front Runner Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Hose finished 5th with an average time of 20:47.
Swanigan (15th) battled in the small race at Camp Jordan Park to lead PC for the fifth time this season. Sally Hart (34th) ran 20:32, Denise Devaney (36th) ran a season’s best 21:01, Ripley Fricano (37th) ran a season’s best 21:09, and Bea DiBona (41st) ran 22:03 to round out the scoring for PC. Kennedy Brooks (24:55), Christin Van Hoy (25:11) and Lacey Hornaday (25:34) also raced.
Middle Tennessee State won the race with 18 points and the individual champion Hannah Maina (18:12). Chattanooga (54 points) finished second, Georgia State (71 points) third, Winthrop (94 points fourth) and PC (134 points) fifth.
The Blue Hose will next race at the Big South Cross Country Championships on Friday, October 28, in Asheville, NC.
