Bio

Flo Liu is in his third season with the Presbyterian College men's soccer team in the 2018-19 season.

 

An integral part of the team's recruiting efforts, Liu has reshaped the Blue Hose from RPI of 206 to a team competing for conference and national success, the 2017 team won the Big South Championship and made the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. The 2018 team finished with its highest rankings in the Big South and hosted the conference final as the higher seed, while also finishing with the most wins in its Div I era. When PC stepped on the field against Campbell in the tournament final, the entire starting XI were Liu’s products. Liu recruited the following all conference selections: Barbara (1st), Kitromilides (2nd), Ziegler (2nd), Hoffelner (2nd), Pinto (2nd) and Menudier (honorable mention). Pinto, Vannier, Menudier, Edo Martin as well as Kitromilides were all conference as freshmen. Ricardo Hernandez was named 2017 Big South Tournament MVP and 2018 CoSIDA Academic All-District® Team. Kitromilides, Hoffelner, Menudier, Pinto and Edo Martin were all tournament selections during the last two post seasons.

 

Involved in all aspects of the program, Liu helped develop Mason Lewis, Cade Crow and Connor Behrend into All-Conference honorees in 2016, which marked most All-Conference Selections in program history. Liu supervised player academics as well as community service. The Blue Hose received the NSCAA Academic Team Award for exemplary performance in the classroom.

 

Liu, a nationally licensed coach through United States Soccer Federation (USSF), came to Presbyterian College after two seasons with Temple University. Liu assisted in student-athlete development, recruiting, video analysis, daily practices, scouting, social media, marketing, alumni relations and camps. Liu helped developing 7 all-conference and 2 all-region players, including MLS draft Jorge Gomez-Sanchez, and Carlos Moros Gracia, who signed with Swedish 1st Division team GIF Sundsvall.  During his time, Temple had one of the best turnarounds in the country in 2015 (8 more wins than previous season) and school's highest NSCAA ranking (#17) in 30 years.

 

A native of Richmond, British Columbia, Liu was a standout at University of Connecticut where he helped UConn to two NCAA Elite Eight appearances in 2011 and 2012, he was part of a defense that set a school record with 16 shutouts in 2011. Liu played every minute in Big East play on route to conference championship in 2012 while contributing game winning goal against No.8 Notre Dame and game winning assist against No.3 Georgetown. UConn was ranked No.1 in the country for majority of the regular season both years

 

In 2013, Liu had a brief playing spell in Germany, including training with Eintracht Frankfurt of German Bundesliga.
