2017: Made 13 appearances with one start...went 1-0 on the season and totaled 16.0 innings pitched, allowing 14 runs (13 earned) on 28 hits with 10 strikeouts against nine walks...made two appearances in Big South action, recording 1.2 scoreless innings of relief work and allowing just one hit...recorded seven scoreless outings...earned the victory against Butler on Mar. 7, tossing a scoreless inning in relief and allowing two hits...season-high three strikeouts against Wofford on Mar. 29...made his collegiate debut at Alabama on Feb. 18, working 1.0 scoreless inning and allowing two hits with two strikeouts

Before PC: Twice named to the league’s all-conference team at Myers Park High School in Charlotte, N.C.…team advanced to the second round of the state playoffs…played for the Showcase Baseball Academy…earned the P.I.T.C.H. award, which is given to the organization’s best all-around player, both on and off the field…made the honor roll…member of the National Honors Society

Personal: Son of Russ and Amy Jacks Dean…majoring in biology…worked as an assistant clubhouse manager for the Charlotte Knights, Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, during the summer.
