The Presbyterian College men's soccer team and head coach Jonathan Potter announced the 2017 schedule on Tuesday. The Blue Hose host eight regular season home contests, as well as one preseason exhibition match. The 17 match schedule includes eight Big South Conference matches and nine non-conference matches.

The non-conference portion of the schedule consists of matches against teams from six different conferences, the ACC, Atlantic-10, Atlantic Sun, Colonial Athletic Association, Southern Conference and Sun Belt.

“We are excited about the quality of our 2017 schedule,” said Coach Potter. “Our philosophy is to test ourselves against quality opposition in our non-conference schedule to get our team prepared for a very competitive Big South Conference slate. Non-conference matches against quality opponents from the ACC, A-10, and CAA along with matches against many well-coached local rivals will provide exciting challenges for our team.”

The home slate opens with an exhibition match against Spartanburg Methodist on August 16th at 7 p.m. The first regular season home contest is two weeks later on August 30th as the Blue Hose host USC Upstate at 7 p.m. Presbyterian then takes its talents on the road for two and a half weeks before returning to Martin Stadium on Saturday, September 16th for a 1 p.m. contest with Furman. Georgia State comes to town that Tuesday the 19th for a 7 p.m. start, with the Blue Hose beginning league play at home against Gardner-Webb on Saturday the 30th.

The October portion of the schedule gets started on the 4th with a home match against Radford at 6 p.m. Presbyterian's final three home matches come against Liberty at 7 p.m., on the 13th, and Campbell at 4 p.m., on Saturday the 21st. The final non-conference match is Tuesday the 24th against Appalachian State.

“Our home support is great and this showed by our winning home record last season. We are delighted to treat our community with nine home matches this fall. Their support is pivotal for our team, making Martin Stadium and Edens Field a great environment for college soccer.”

The rest of the Blue Hose schedule consists of road games at Davidson on August 26th, at Elon September 2nd, at Duke on the 5th,  and at UNCG on the 9th with the final road non-conference game at Mercer on the 13th.

PC opens Big South play on the road at Winthrop Saturday, September 23rd.  Next the Blue Hose travel to Longwood on October 7th, and then finish the regular season with road matches at High Point on the 28th and UNC Asheville on November 1st.

“The Big South continues to become more competitive each year, with three different conference tournament champions the last three years. The conference tournament format and parity of our league make each Big South regular season game very important. We eagerly await the challenge ahead of what should be a very competitive conference season.”

The 2017 Big South Tournament is slated for November 5th- November 12th at higher seed sites.
