Nelson Jones
Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine/Director of Sports Medicine

Nelson Jones enters his 31st season at Presbyterian College, 13th as the Director of Sports Medicine and 3rd as an Associate Athletic Director.

Jones oversees a staff of seven and is responsible for the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries for all student-athletes at PC. He acts as the primary athletic trainer for the men’s basketball and men's and women's golf teams.

Jones originally joined the PC community in 1986 as the first-ever certified athletic trainer in the school’s history. He was promoted to Director of Sports Medicine in 2004.

Prior to his arrival, Jones served a three-year stint as an assistant athletic trainer at Furman. In addition to working with the Paladins, he has collegiate experience from East Tennessee State as well as doing internships with the Atlanta Falcons and Buffalo Bills of the National Football League and the Michigan Panthers of the former United States Football League.

The Bristol, Va., native earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education-athletic training from East Tennessee State (1983) and a master’s degree in health sciences from Furman (1985). He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the South Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association.

He resides in Clinton with his wife, the former Amy Ramage of Springfield, Ohio.
