Todd Varn
Associate Head Coach / Offensive Coordinator

Todd Varn enters his sixth season since returning to PC as offensive coordinator. Varn was previously on staff at PC in 2005 and 2006, making 2016 his eighth season with program overall.

In 2015, Varn led the offensive unit that relied heavily on running back Darrell Bridges, who rushed for 1,065 yards to become the first PC player in the program's Division I era to reach the 1,000-yard mark. Bridges earned first team All-Big South honors in 2015, after also leading the team in touchdowns with eight.

In 2014, Varn helped PC to a 6-5 record, the program’s first winning season since 2007 and its first-ever in the Big South. His offensive prowess guided the Blue Hose to ranked wins over No. 12 Furman and No. 22 Charleston Southern and the team's two road wins stand as the most since three in 2007.

Against FCS competition, PC finished with a 5-2 record and its only two losses came to FCS playoff teams Coastal Carolina and Liberty. Wide receiver Tobi Antigha and offensive lineman Devinn Ritter also earned Second Team All-Big South honors under Varn as well.

Varn previously served the Blue Hose in the same capacity during the 2005 and 2006 seasons.  Most recently, the 1992 N.C. State graduate was the Associate Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator for Newberry.

Varn has been with the Wolves since 2007. He was also the running backs coach and linebackers coach there for the 1995 season. This past season, the Wolves were ranked 24th in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 35 points per game. The team finished second in the South Atlantic Conference in 2009 in total offense.

He was offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach and running backs coach at Charleston Southern from 1999 to 2001, and while there saw his team average 345 yards a game and set the record for most wins in a season in 1999 and 2000.

From 2002-2005 Varn was at Western Carolina University, serving as running backs coach from 02-03 and Offensive Coordinator from 03-05. In 2003 the Catamounts led the Southern Conference in total offense with 226 yards per game.

In 1997-98, Varn served as assistant coach at Virginia Military Institute, coaching the Keydets' defensive backs in 1997 and linebackers and special teams coach in 1998.

Varn was a four-year letterman at running back for the Wolfpack from 1986-89.

He is married to the former Kris Herlong. They are the parents of twin boys, Kody and Jarrett, and a daughter Mary Jo.
