BELTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College sophomore Max Benson and freshman Teo Cariov each captured singles titles on Sunday at the 56th South Carolina Men’s Collegiate Tennis Championships.


“I’m really proud of the way Max and Teo competed all weekend,” said Blue Hose head coach Eduardo Rincon. “They battled against tough competition all weekend and had to deal with all kinds of elements, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.”



- Benson and Cariov each went 5-0 in singles play to claim their titles, with Benson knocking off Furman’s Henrik Atlevi in the final of the Championship flight, and Cariov defeating the Paladins’ Jason Smith in the final match of the Blue flight.

- The duo partnered up in doubles play, adding two more wins to their weekend total.

- Senior Jaime Castillo-Lopez picked up a pair of victories in singles play for PC, while sophomores Oscar Alvarez and Jonathan Bedard, as well as junior Alberto Conde notched a win apiece.

- The doubles duo of Castillo-Lopez and junior Daniel Stenger went 3-1 for the weekend, while Alvarez and Bedard teamed up for one victory.
