Presbyterian trails Gardner-Webb 3-6-1 in the series since 2008. The Runnin’ Bulldogs picked up a 1-0 overtime win the last time they visited Martin Stadium, 2016. Last season, Haley Hocking scored late in a 3-1 road loss.

Morgan’s Momentum ...

Morgan Hutchison leads the team with a collegiate-best 13 points (5G, 3A) over the last five games. The junior was selected the Big South Attacking Player of the Week (Sept. 23) after helping PC earn back-to-back overtime wins. Most recently she netted a pair of goals in a 2-0 win over USC Upstate.

Starting Strong …
The Blue Hose are 3-1 in the Big South after back-to-back OT wins against Longwood and Charleston Southern to start conference play as well as a 2-0 win against USC Upstate last week. Should they win against Winthrop, it will be the most Big South wins for PC (4) since 2013 when the team went 6-5 with a pair of double overtime losses.

Overtime Thrillers …
PC played three consecutive overtime games and improved to 3-0 in extra time this season with a 2-1 win over Charleston Southern on September 25.

Milestone Watch ...
Junior Preston Robinette recorded her 10th career assist in PC’s game vs USC Upstate which ranks her second in PC’s record books. Sara Simpson (2010-13) holds the PC DI record with 12 assists.

Junior Morgan Hutchison has five goals on the season and needs just one more to move into a six-way tie for second in PC’s Division I history. Tori Lopez holds the PC record for goals in a single season at eight set back in 2013. One more point will also move Hutchison into the team’s top-5 for points in a single season (14).

Starting Strong at Home ...
In three of five home games this season, the Blue Hose have scored first and in the game’s first 15 minutes. Preston Robinette scored at 14:13 against North Florida, Caroline Dipzinski scored at 14:22 against SC State and Morgan Hutchison at 5:41 against USC Upstate.

Party Like It’s 1989 ...
On Friday, September 6, Presbyterian College honored its inaugural team from 1989 during halftime of its game with Wofford. The program’s first game fell on 9/6/89 against the NAIA preseason #1 team, the College of Boca Raton (now Lynn University).

In Elite Company ...

Head coach Brian Purcell is in his 31st season in charge of the PC women’s soccer team. Only six other coaches in NCAA history have coached for +30 years with the same school, and Purcell is one of only three coaches to still be the only coach in program history. North Carolina’s Anson Dorrance has spent 37 seasons with the Tar Heels, and Jerry Smith has spent 32 seasons with Santa Clara.
