The Opponents...

Furman dropped a 3-2 home game to Oregon on Sunday to fall to 4-2 on the year. They already have wins over Kennesaw State (2-0) and Campbell (2-1) who also appear on PC’s schedule. The Paladins are led offensively by Isabella Gutierrez’s seven points (2G, 3A) and Erin Houlihan’s six points (3G).

The Citadel (2-2-1) recently had to cancel a pair of games against UNC Asheville and Gardner-Webb due to Hurricane Dorian, but they picked up a 1-1 draw against USC Upstate on Tuesday, September 10. The Bulldogs are led offensively by Logan Dix’s seven points (3G, 1A).

Series Histories…

PC picked up a 2-0 win over Furman the last time these teams met in Greenville. However, the Paladins are up 10-1 in the series since 2008 and won 1-0 in Clinton last season.

PC leads 5-1 in the series with The Citadel since 2007 and picked up a 4-2 win last season in Clinton. Morgan Hutchison opened the scoring in that game with her first collegiate goal. Last season’s win also sparked a five-game winning streak for PC.

Party Like It’s 1989 ...

On Friday, September 6, Presbyterian College honored its inaugural team from 1989 during halftime of its game with Wofford. The program’s first game fell on 9/6/89 against the NAIA preseason #1 team, the College of Boca Raton (now Lynn University).

Ms. 3000...

Junior defender Kristen Bane surpassed 3000 career minutes during PC’s game vs Wofford (Sept. 6). She has played the full 90 minutes in each of the first four games this season.

In Elite Company...

Head coach Brian Purcell is in his 31st season in charge of the PC women’s soccer team. Only six other coaches in NCAA history have coached for +30 years with the same school, and Purcell is one of only three coaches to still be the only coach in program history. North Carolina’s Anson Dorrance has spent 37 seasons with the Tar Heels, and Jerry Smith has spent 32 seasons with Santa Clara.
