Mikayla Cooper is in her first year as an assistant coach at Presbyterian College in 2019. Her primary duties will include working with the team’s catchers and assisting with infield/hitting.
Cooper comes to PC after one season as an assistant coach at Chadron State College where she assisted in raising the team’s batting average, runs, hits, doubles, on-base percentage and fielding percentage from the previous season.
Cooper was a standout player at Ohio University from 2015-18, starting 221 out of 223 games. The Bobcats advanced to the Mid-American Conference Tournament Championship three consecutive seasons (2016-18) with Cooper starting at first and leading off for the 2018 MAC Tournament Champions. Her senior season, Ohio also won the MAC regular season title. She earned First Team All-MAC honors her junior and senior seasons, as well as All-Tournament honors in 2016. Cooper was an impact player on the 2017 team that won a program-record 42 games.
The native of Delaware, Ohio, graduated from Ohio in 2018 with a degree in recreation management and minors in business administration/coaching education. She is currently working on a masters degree in sports management from Chadron State.
