Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men’s tennis team earned their second Big South win of the season on Thursday afternoon against USC Upstate. The Blue Hose defeated the Spartans 5-2 on the Templeton Tennis Courts to move to 8-6 on the year, 2-0 in league play.

 

The Blue Hose started on the right foot in the match by earning the doubles point. Nicholas McKinney and Alberto Conde earned a 6-3 victory against their opponents on court three. Jaime Castillo-Lopez and Max Benson clawed back from a 4-1 deficit on court two to clinch the doubles point. They would score wins in six of the final seven games to win the match.

 

PC clinched the match by winning the first three singles contests. Castillo-Lopez, McKinney, and Oscar Alvarez secured victory for the Blue Hose with straight-set wins. Benson earned a three-set win after falling in the second set. He won his third set tiebreaker 11-9. Full results can be found below:

The Blue Hose will travel to Nashville, Tenn. for a pair of matches to begin spring break. PC will face Belmont on Sunday and Lipscomb on Monday.
